This credit gives just one extra point to have a third party inspect the irrigation system in operation. I’m am not sure if our Green Rater has done this or not, but it is easy enough to do, and just costs his time (for which the builder is paying). He needs to ensure that:
a. All spray heads are operating and delivering water only to indentended zones.
b. Any switches or shut-off valves are working properly.
c. Any timers or controllers are set properly.
d. Any irrigation systems are located at least 2 feet from the home.
e. Irrigation spray does not hit the home.
As the homeowner, I’d like to make sure that all works, too! So, we’ll take a point here.

Apparently our Green Rater has no record of inspecting our irrigation system. Since we need this point to get to gold, we are scheduling this as soon as our system can get up and running this spring (hopefully April?). It’s been a loooong winter and the snow needs to melt, but I am hopeful.
